Modifying my cameras sensor

I modified my old Sony camera to see the full spectrum of light. What do you do with your old cameras?

2024/12/16 Edited to

... Read moreMany photographers find themselves with old cameras that may not serve a purpose anymore. However, modifying your existing camera can revitalize its functionality and expand its capabilities. For instance, adjusting the sensor allows you to capture a broader range of light, which can be particularly beneficial for astrophotography or macro photography. When considering a modification, it’s essential to have a basic understanding of how camera sensors work. The sensor is crucial in determining the quality of the image; enhancing it can lead to stunning photographic results. Furthermore, the DIY community has many resources available ranging from forums to video tutorials that guide you through various modification techniques. Additionally, consider the various lenses and accessories you have. People often overlook the potential for creative shots with old lenses or filters that can change the way your modified camera performs. So before you box up that old Sony or any other camera, think about modifications that could turn it into a unique tool for your photography adventures. Engaging in this hands-on approach not only adds to your skill set but also gives a second life to otherwise discarded gear.

Turn your vlog camera into a cinema camera
What even is a cine lens? It’s a lens specifically made for cinema or video. Generally cinema lenses are manual only. Meaning no autofocus. The reason for this is that cinematographers like to have full control over their shots. The framing of every shot affects how the audience reacts to a scene.

From DSLR to Mirrorless: Is it Worth it??
About a week ago I went from my Canon DSLR EOS 80d to a Canon EOS r6 Mark ii. I’ve been waiting to go mirrorless forever, and I gotta say it is 100% worth it. Keep in mind the 80d body goes for about $400, while the Mark II goes for almost $2k. So it’s a big investment worth thinking about.

Focal lengths are not something I understood until recently. They determine how punched in or how wide an image can be, but also it determines how compressed/blurry the background is. What the numbers mean The higher the number, the tighter the shot and the more compressed the background is.
