I am not feeling too good about my art 😔

ok so this was a difficult reference pic, but you can see the art just looks mushy. I am able to get critique in discord and they said some of my art is bad without explaining too much. I am going to try to get better critique and learn to make art that is much cleaner.

I think that getting critique can hurt sometimes, especially if you tend to view art skills as part of your identity. BUT if you don't accept your flaws you can never improve!

I have been feeling a little down on myself in general lately, but I am trying to keep a healthy mindset towards everything.

... Read moreMany artists face challenges when it comes to accepting critique. It's important to remember that constructive criticism is meant to help, not hurt. When receiving feedback, try to focus on specifics; rather than general statements like 'this art is bad,' seek clarity on what aspects can be improved. This practice not only enhances your skills but also helps you build resilience. Accepting flaws is a vital part of the artistic journey. Artists should aim for a growth mindset, understanding that every piece is an opportunity for learning. Engaging in communities, such as art forums or Discord groups, can provide a supportive environment for sharing progress and receiving valuable insights. Incorporating daily practice and setting achievable goals can lead to significant improvements. Whether it's mastering a new technique or refining your style, allow yourself to grow at your own pace. Remember, every artist has been where you are; perseverance is key to success. Additionally, participating in challenges, like those found on platforms such as Lemon8, can keep you motivated and inspire creativity. By embracing vulnerability and sharing your journey with others, you'll foster connections and find encouragement along the way. Keep pushing through the feelings of self-doubt, and you’ll be amazed at how far you can come.

The reality is that as an artist, I don’t always love my creations. But that doesn’t keep me from creating them. And it certainly doesn’t keep me from sharing them with the community or placing them in galleries. 😳😩😔🫣 If there’s one thing that I’ve learned it’s that I don’t know what is going to
