How I use my iPad as a student

Here are more reasons why I love my iPad:

🎒 Easy to Carry: The iPad is like a lightweight magic book that you can take everywhere. No heavy backpacks!

🖊️ Writing and Drawing with a Fancy Pen: It's like having a cool pen that lets you write and draw on your iPad. Perfect for class notes and doodles.

📚 All Your Books in One Place: Instead of lugging around heavy books, your iPad can carry all your reading materials. Just swipe through them like flipping pages.

📱 Apps that Help You Get Stuff Done: There are apps on the iPad that help you organize your schedule, set reminders, and work on group projects with your classmates.

🎥 Watching Videos and Listening to Cool Stuff: You can watch educational videos and listen to interesting stuff on your iPad. Learning becomes more fun!

👥 Working Together on Projects: With the iPad, you and your friends can work on projects together, even if you're not in the same place. It's like a virtual group study session.

🔍 Looking Up Information: Need to find info for a paper? The iPad lets you search for things online and read articles. Super handy!

🤓 Apps for Different Learning Needs: If you need extra help with learning, the iPad has tools for that. It's like a friendly assistant.

🗣️ Talking to Teachers and Friends: You can chat with your teachers and friends using the iPad. It's like sending messages or making video calls.

🎮 Having Fun Breaks: When you need a break, the iPad is there for entertainment. You can play games, listen to music, or watch movies.

I love how my iPad made my student life a whole lot easier! ~

PS you don't need an iPad to excel at school. You can still do well without it (I survived and graduated latin honors as an undergrad with just a laptop that I used to.

... Read moreOkay, so my iPad has seriously been a game-changer for my student journey, and I’ve picked up some tips along the way that might just make your academic life easier too! Beyond just the basics, here’s how I really dive deep into using my iPad for everything from note-taking to project management and even leveraging AI for smarter studying. First off, let's talk about digital note-taking and organization. While the original post touched on Goodnotes and Kilonotes, I want to share a bit more about how I maximize them. For lectures, Goodnotes is my go-to. I import all my lecture slides as PDFs, then use the Apple Pencil to annotate directly. I’ve found that actively writing notes on slides helps me retain information much better than just typing. I also use its search function constantly – being able to type a keyword and instantly find notes from weeks ago is a lifesaver, especially during exam season! Kilonotes, on the other hand, is fantastic for more visual learning, mind-mapping, or even for a quick journaling session to process thoughts after a tough study block. Combining these two apps creates a powerful duo for different learning styles. Then there's productivity and task management. My iPad is basically my mobile command center thanks to apps like Notion and TickTick. For Notion, I’ve created a personalized student dashboard. It links all my course notes, assignment trackers, and even my study schedule. Having instant access to my 'Teal's Space/ Productivity' page from my iPad means I can quickly update tasks or check deadlines between classes without having to open my laptop. TickTick helps me with daily to-dos and setting reminders for readings or group meetings. I even use its Pomodoro timer feature directly on my iPad to stay focused during study sessions. It’s all about creating a seamless workflow that keeps everything organized and accessible. One area I’ve really started to explore is leveraging AI tools for studying. The OCR scan mentioned apps like QuillBot, Unriddle, and Jenni AI, and honestly, they've become part of my routine. For research papers, I sometimes use QuillBot to help rephrase sentences or paragraphs, ensuring my writing is clear and concise while avoiding plagiarism by understanding how to articulate ideas differently. Unriddle and Jenni AI are great for quickly summarizing lengthy articles or helping to brainstorm initial ideas for essays. I always make sure to use these tools ethically, as a starting point or a way to refine my own thoughts, rather than a replacement for my own work. It's like having a really smart study buddy right on my iPad! Finally, a quick tip on making your iPad truly indispensable: don't underestimate the power of Split View multitasking. I often have my iBooks app open on one side, reading 'E. O. Wilson's Life on Earth' (or any other textbook), while Goodnotes is open on the other side for note-taking. This mirrors a traditional desk setup but with the added benefit of being fully searchable and portable. And for all those e-books, having them all digitally means no more back pain from lugging around heavy print books – a definite win for a student using an iPad!
