You were never “too much” — you were just giving to the wrong person

You didn’t become “too much.”

You became aware that you were giving real love

to someone who didn’t have the capacity to return it.

So you adjusted yourself to survive it.

You over-explained.

You gave more than you received.

You replayed everything in your head

trying to make it make sense.

But it never did… because it wasn’t you.

It was the space you were in.

That’s why you felt drained.

That’s why you felt anxious.

That’s why you stopped feeling like yourself.

Not because you’re hard to love —

but because you were loving in the wrong place.

And once you see that clearly…

you stop shrinking and start choosing differently.

👉 Follow for the kind of clarity that changes who you choose.

... Read moreMany of us have experienced the exhausting feeling of giving more love and effort in a relationship than we receive. This imbalance often leads us to question our own value, wondering if we're inherently "too much" to be loved properly. However, this thought is misleading. The real issue lies in the mismatch between your authentic self and the capacity of the other person to hold that love. From personal experience, adjusting yourself to fit someone else's limited emotional capacity only drains your energy and blurs your sense of identity. I once found myself constantly over-explaining my feelings and trying desperately to make things make sense. The dissonance between their words and actions left me anxious and disconnected from who I am. Through healing and growth, I came to realize that my love was not the problem—it was the place I was giving it. True self-love means recognizing when to stop shrinking and start choosing relationships that honor your true worth. It's about shifting from trying to fix others to nurturing yourself and setting boundaries where your love is reciprocated and appreciated. If you've felt drained or anxious in relationships, know that it’s not because you’re too much, but because you were loving in a space that couldn’t hold your real heart. Embracing this clarity transforms your mindset and opens the door to healthier, more fulfilling connections. Taking this step has been transformative in my journey toward self-love and authentic relationships.

Signs You’re Giving Too Much to the Wrong People 🔎
You weren’t meant to shrink, overgive, or question your worth just to be accepted. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Somewhere along the way, you may have learned that being “less” made things easier… but it also made you forget who you are. 🙇🏾‍♀️ You don’t need to prove your value. You don’t need to earn your place.

The image displays the title "FIVE WAYS YOU WERE CALLED 'TOO MUCH' BY PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T ENOUGH" with a line drawing of a brain and heart connected. It includes the creator's handle and website.
This image presents a reflective text about being labeled "too much," suggesting the issue lies with others' inability to handle one's depth, not one's authenticity. It encourages rewriting this narrative.
The image discusses the first way one is called "too much," contrasting "I'm too much" with "I was too much for people who couldn't handle depth," explaining how intensity is misconstrued as a flaw.
