😂 MY IGNORANCE ABOUT DEPRESSION & ANXIETY
I was today years old when I learned a person can struggle with DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY at the same time. 😂
I honestly thought they were polar opposites!
I’m like, “Wait a minute… how you anxious AND sad? Pick a struggle!” 😂🤣
In my mind, that was like being hyper and lazy at the same time. Running around the house looking for your phone while it’s in your hand. 😂
But apparently, the human brain said, “Hold my coffee.” ☕😂
You can be exhausted but unable to sleep. Want to be left alone but desperately hoping somebody checks on you. Worried about tomorrow while barely having the energy to deal with today.
And honestly, this generation has been through enough!
COVID. Wars. Shootings. High prices. Social media. Relationship drama. Processed foods with ingredients that look like they came from a chemistry final. 😂
And every time you open your phone, somebody is either dying, divorcing, fighting, getting rich, getting cheated on, or selling a course on how to become a millionaire by Tuesday. 😩😂
So as a father, I had to ask myself:
“How do I help?”
I’m learning that sometimes the answer isn't, “Just pray about it.”
YES, PRAY. 🙏🏾
But also LISTEN.
Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn” (Matthew 5:4). Scripture also says to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).
That means sometimes you don't need a sermon.
You need a hug, an ear, a meal, some patience, and maybe a therapist. 😂
Faith doesn't mean pretending you're okay.
Sometimes faith is saying:
“Lord, I’m struggling… and I need You AND somebody qualified to help me.”
Because even the strongest people can have weak moments.
And that's okay.
We don't have to carry everything by ourselves. 🙏🏾❤️
