Cat called while with MY TODDLER

It's one thing when getting cat called alone and another when cat called while you are struggling with your toddler.

I was walking next to my toddler while she scooted.

The sun was out, and we were talking about how to get to the park, looking at the clouds, chasing birds, we were giggling.

We stopped at the traffic light, it was red man so we waited for green man. Green man came and we crossed, but R insisted I carry her scooter across the road - so i did.

Halfway through, a man in a car stopped at the red light while we crossed.

Rolled his window down and whistled continuously, shouted 'wow', 'hey look here' and continued to whistle WHILE I WAS HOLDING MY TODDLER ACROSS THE ROAD. I knew it was for me because NO ONE ELSE WAS CROSSING THE DAMN ROAD.

My toddler stopped walking and turned back like who is this fucking crazy fella saying to my mom. I told her to continue walking as we can't stop in the middle of the road.

How dare he?

How dare anyone reduce me to something to comment on while I’m with my child?

I am a mother.

I am tired.

I am PISSED AF.

I am not here for your fucking entertainment you piece of fucking shit.

I kept walking. I wanted to point my middle finger at him but because I was with my toddler, I dont know what he will do. We were also at a secluded area of the park entrance and god knows who is gonna help us if he turns violent.

And because the strongest thing I could do

Was hold R's hand tighter,

Keep talking about the weather,

Totally ignoring the cat calling.

But I felt so angry at myself after, I should have just pointed the middle finger and shouted something at him. Best believe if it happens again (God forbid), i'll make sure to do that.

p.s. I was wearing this outfit (pictured) during that day as I thought to head to the gym after dropping my toddler off at school. Like what? It's a mom outfit, its convenient, it allows me to move freely, to constantly be picking up toys. Many fucks to you 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕man of a red mazda (I also should have taken his carplate number).

... Read moreExperiencing catcalling as a mother is a disturbing reality that many women face. This article sheds light on the challenges of balancing parenting duties with personal safety and respect. As mothers navigate public spaces, they often find themselves subjected to unsolicited comments and attention that can feel intrusive and disrespectful. It's important to raise awareness about the impact of catcalling on mothers, especially in vulnerable moments, like when they're with their children. The response from the community is crucial, as discussions surrounding respect, boundaries, and personal space can foster a safer environment for all parents. Furthermore, engaging with local support groups or advocacy organizations can help promote awareness and drive change in public perception. Mothers deserve to feel safe and respected while fulfilling their roles. Let's challenge societal norms that trivialize catcalling and focus on fostering a culture of respect and empowerment for all individuals, regardless of circumstances.

I wore an outfit that did have deep chest cut when I was 18. Got cat called by construction workers on MRT. Ever since then I never wear anything revealing. I’m sorry you had to go through that💔 I know how uncomfortable this makes us feel, I wish there was a better way for us to deal with these brainless losers!
