Gaslighting :Dealing with Narcissistic Abuse

There was a time when I truly thought I was losing my mind. No matter what I said or did, it felt like the truth kept slipping away from me—twisted, denied, or brushed off as if I imagined it all.

He made me question everything: my memory, my feelings, even my reality. And the worst part? When I tried to tell people, they didn’t believe me. They’d say, “He seems so nice,” or, “Are you sure it’s not just a misunderstanding?” Their doubt only made me question myself more.

That’s the thing about gaslighting—it’s isolating. It makes you feel like you’re alone, drowning in confusion. But one day, I started keeping track of the things he said and did. I wrote down the lies, the contradictions, and the moments that didn’t add up. Piece by piece, the truth started to reveal itself.

It wasn’t me. It was him all along.

Realizing that gave me back my power, but it didn’t make the journey easier. Breaking free from a gaslighter meant rebuilding my confidence, trusting my instincts, and finding people who truly supported me. It was hard, but I’m here.

If you’ve ever felt like your reality is being erased, you’re not crazy. You’re not alone. Trust yourself, and don’t let anyone dim your light.

... Read moreGaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that makes victims doubt their reality. It often begins subtly—your partner might twist your words, making you feel confused and isolated. Over time, these tactics escalate, leading you to believe you are the problem. Understanding the gaslighting cycle is crucial for breaking free. Take the time to document instances that seem inconsistent or contradictory; this can be empowering and help you recognize patterns in your partner's behavior. It's vital to trust your instincts and reality. Remember, when someone tries to convince you that you're overly emotional or misunderstood, they're likely deflecting responsibility. Rebuilding your confidence can be daunting but essential for recovery. Engaging with supportive friends, family, or mental health professionals can foster a safe space for you to express your feelings without judgment. In the end, healing from gaslighting abuse not only helps you reclaim your power but also allows you to connect with others who have gone through similar experiences. You're not just surviving; you're on a journey toward thriving emotionally and mentally.
