Three weeks post-op from Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) marks a significant milestone in my weight loss journey. After starting at 285 lbs at surgery day, I have now reached 263.6 lbs, dropping 21.4 lbs in just three weeks. This journey began with a pre-op weight of 296 lbs, illustrating a total weight loss of 32.4 lbs since New Year’s. For those considering VSG, it’s essential to understand the commitment it takes, as well as the lifestyle changes required to maintain weight loss success. In addition to tracking my weekly weigh-ins, I focused on adapting my diet to fit my new lifestyle. Post-surgery, it’s crucial to follow a nutritious meal plan—lean proteins, vegetables, and plenty of hydration are key components. I also found it helpful to engage in online communities such as #vsgjourney and #gastricsleevesurgery for support and motivation. Sharing experiences with others on similar journeys keeps me inspired and informed. In the coming weeks, I hope to continue documenting my progress while providing insights and tips for anyone considering or undergoing VSG surgery.

This is what I eat 5 days post op gastric sleeve surgery. I'm on the clear liquid stage of my diet for the first 7 days.. It was so difficult to drink all the liquids. My stomach was hurting. The chocolate flavor protein was a little heavy on my stomach. I had to dilute it. #gastricsleevelife

I am 3 days post op laparoscopic assisted Roux-en-y Gastric Bypass! Here are a few things I have preferred over others in these past few days. I have been dealing with gnarly muscle spasms, which I wasn’t prepared for, so im taking it pretty easy and bland when it comes to the full liquid diet.

After VSG surgery, I knew that my diet had to not be restrictive because that would lead me to cheating on my diet, feeling guilty, and eventually giving up. So i’m learning to not deny my sweet tooth, or my love for coffee, but make smarter decisions and remember to have temperance in everything😌
