9 AM: Breakfast at Surf House: cute Californian style spot in La Barceloneta that also offers activities like surfing, yoga, and other events

11 AM: Walk & shop Pg. de Gràcia: lots of shopping as well as the 3 famous Gaudí houses with stunning architecture and tours: Casa Batlló, Casa Mila, Casa Vicens

1 PM: Food at the Mercado de la Boqueria & Bo de B: walk down La Rambla , a tree lined street near Plaça de Catalunya, the market is good for quick snacks like croquettes, empanadas, meat, fresh juice and sweet treats or if you’re very hungry, Bo de B is an incredible sandwich place nearby (super popular and you will wait a while but it’s worth it)

3 PM:La Sagrada Familia : it’s out of the way but worth it even to see just the outside, inside has beautiful colorful stained glass and a tower, but very touristy

5 PM:Park Güell : huge park with Gaudí museum, mosaic covered buildings and sculptures, and pretty views of the city

7 PM: Pre dinner drinks at ELEVEN BCN: a beautiful but smaller rooftop bar with insane panoramic views of the city, including La Sagrada

9 PM: Dinner at El Nacional: huge space with 4 different food areas (meat, fish, tapas, and deli/healthy) and 4 different bars

11 PM: Explore the nightlife: walk around the gothic quarter and bar hop into a few bars or join a bar crawl, then try a club in La Barceloneta on the beach (Opium, Pacha, Carpe Diem)

First off Madrid is a beautiful city with so much history and culture! You can and should spend more than a day here but if you only have a day this is what I would do. I’d start off by eating breakfast at my hotel. I stayed at the Totem for $350 a night. Then head to the Prado for a bit of culture
