Things to Add to Your Barcelona Itinerary
Unique things to do in 📍Barcelona that go beyond the usual sightseeing.
From cooking classes to local neighborhoods to sunset spots, here are the experiences that made my trip unforgettable. Save this for your next adventure. ✨
1. Take a Paella Cooking Class
One of the best ways to experience Barcelona’s food culture. I booked mine through Airbnb Experiences and it included a fresh ingredients, hands-on cooking, and a shared meal. It’s fun, interactive, and such a memorable way to learn about Spanish cuisine.
2. See a Flamenco Show
Flamenco in Spain feels emotional, powerful, and completely unforgettable. The mix of live guitar, singing, and dance gives you a real glimpse into Spanish culture. Look for smaller venues for a more intimate experience.
3. Visit Basílica de la Sagrada Família
Gaudí’s masterpiece and one of the most breathtaking buildings in Europe. The stained glass inside is unreal and the architecture feels otherworldly. Highly recommend buying tickets in advance because it sells out quickly, especially during peak tourist seasons.
4. Try Iberico Ham
Rich, buttery, and melts-in-your-mouth. Spain’s famous jamón ibérico is a must-try and tastes completely different from anything you’ll find in the US. Get it freshly sliced from a market stall.
5. Explore Park Güell
A colorful, whimsical park filled with mosaics, curving pathways, and panoramic city views. It’s beautiful at any time, but golden hour is especially magical. Be sure to buy tickets ahead of time since entry times fill up fast.
6. Explore Gràcia Neighborhood
A charming, village-like district with narrow streets, independent boutiques, artisan shops, and some of the cutest cafés in the city. Gràcia feels more local and laid-back than the tourist areas, and it’s the perfect place to wander, shop, and enjoy a slow afternoon in one of its sunny plazas.
7. Go Out to the Beachfront Nightclubs
Barcelona has an entire strip of beachfront clubs that stay lively until sunrise, each with great music and a fun, energetic crowd. After dancing, you can walk right outside and sit by the beach, listen to the waves, and cool off. It’s the perfect end to a night out.
8. Eat Lunch at Honest Greens Plaça Catalunya
Honest Greens has some of the best healthy bowls, and you can’t find it in the States. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, the ingredients are so clean, and it’s the perfect spot for a light meal in between exploring.
