If only the heart of humanity could speak…

I believe that there are a majority of the people on this planet earth who believe this way but some literally do not have a voice and some do not use their voice thinking they are insignificant. I have lived on this path myself thinking that where my husband moved us back to this state and after voting in my community and seeing my votes in the single digits of others I quit voting and being verbal. It seemed right at the time but now I am not sure. I have always adhered to the thought of if you do not speak out for your beliefs then you are as bad as the evil, small minded people who do the wrongs. When I first moved here and began to work in a school I witnessed something on Main Street and at the city part that I could not believe that no one is intervening. I called the police and thought they were a mere block away it took them forever to respond. Finally someone came. This boy was led by three boys with his face covered by his hood and the amount of kids on the hill at the park was huge, no exaggeration, and yes though scared I drove up to the top of the hill. The policeman thanked me and said he believed that he might have died as they were planning on pushing him off the walking path to the river which was a good distance. Now the boy was not the best kid, he took drugs, lived in a divorced family situation and had other issues including a big mouth. Later I stood up for the situation in the teachers lounge trying to explain the situation but they all took the side of the crowd. So it was words vs actions and I believed the actions screamed for me to intervene. My daughter was very upset, crying and afraid. Yes I worked at the school where all these kid were. But the chance of a person losing their life or maybe being hurt very badly did not to me seem to be justice for a loud mouth of a kid on drugs and possibly alcohol. I stepped out but after the response I got from educated teachers I closed myself off. I think I was wrong.
