STOP explaining YOURSELF ‼️

I used to over-explain myself because I wanted people to understand my heart.

So I explained the boundary.

Then explained why I needed the boundary.

Then felt guilty about the boundary. 😩

Eventually I learned something:

People who respect you don’t need a presentation on why you deserve respect.

Some people will misunderstand you no matter how carefully you explain yourself.

Let them.

I’m no longer exhausting myself trying to control somebody else’s version of me.

They can talk.

I’m choosing peace. 🖤

... Read moreFrom personal experience, I've found that constantly explaining yourself can become a heavy burden that wears you down emotionally. When I first started setting boundaries, I felt compelled to justify every reason why those boundaries were necessary. This often led to feelings of guilt and exhaustion because I was trying to control how others perceived me. It's important to recognize that some people are committed to misunderstanding no matter what you do. Explaining excessively to such individuals only drains your energy and steals your peace. Instead, focusing on your own well-being and protecting your peace is a much healthier approach. Setting boundaries is a crucial step in building better lives and relationships. It helps create a space where respect is mutual and understanding is genuine. People who truly respect you will honor your boundaries without requiring lengthy explanations or defenses. In my experience, choosing peace means accepting that others might talk or form opinions about you. However, you don't need to carry the burden of correcting every misunderstanding. By embracing this mindset, you free yourself from needless stress and create room for self-care and emotional resilience. Ultimately, prioritizing your mental health means trusting that respect and understanding do not need endless presentations. Trust your heart and protect your peace—this is the foundation for healthier interactions and a more fulfilling life.
