Love or Lust ? ❤️💕
Love month has everybody talking about feelings, attraction, butterflies, and connections but here’s the truth: love and lust can look similar on the surface, but they move very differently in the spirit.
Lust is loud. It rushes. It wants now. It focuses on how someone makes you feel, what you want, and what satisfies the flesh in the moment. Lust says, “I need this to feel good, to feel chosen, to feel desired.” And before you know it, it starts dressing itself up as love because attraction feels powerful and emotions feel deep.
But love? Love is patient. Love is steady. Love is selfless.
Love doesn’t rush you into compromise or pressure you to cross boundaries you prayed about. Love doesn’t confuse you, drain you, or leave you feeling empty after the moment passes. Love protects your heart, your body, and your walk with God.
That’s why the Bible reminds us that lust, when it’s allowed to grow unchecked, gives birth to sin and sin, if not addressed, leads to death (James 1:14–15). Not always physical death, but spiritual dullness, broken peace, clouded judgment, and emotional bondage.
During love month, God is inviting us to pause and ask:
• Is this drawing me closer to Him or pulling me away?
• Does this honor my body, my future, and my calling?
• Is this patient, kind, and rooted in truth—or rushed and fueled by desire?
Because real love will wait, pray, honor, and build.
Lust will rush, pressure, consume, and take.
And sis, hear this clearly: choosing God’s definition of love doesn’t mean you’re missing out it means you’re being protected. God isn’t trying to withhold love from you; He’s guarding you from a counterfeit that looks good but costs too much.
So this month, don’t just celebrate lovediscern it.
Ask God to purify your desires, renew your mind, and align your heart with a love that reflects Him. The kind of love that brings peace, not confusion. Healing, not shame. Freedom, not chains.

Reflecting on my own journey, I've realized how easy it is to confuse lust with love, especially during seasons like Love Month when emotions run high. Lust often masks itself as love, driven by immediate gratification and physical desires, but it lacks the depth and patience that real love embodies. I used to rush into relationships, mistaking powerful attraction for affection, only to feel empty and conflicted afterward. What helped me most was actively guarding my mind and heart, which echoes the wisdom shared in the article. Avoiding situations that spark impure thoughts and renewing my focus on God’s word provided clarity and strength. Daily prayer, especially asking for patience and discernment, opened my eyes to the kind of love that honors my values and spiritual walk. It's important to remember that lust leads to sin if unchecked, as the Bible reminds us in James 1:14-15, manifesting not just in harmful actions but in spiritual dullness and emotional bondage. I found that fleeing temptation and seeking God’s help in moments of weakness made a profound difference in aligning my desires with His will. Moreover, discerning love is about asking meaningful questions: Does this connection bring me closer to God or pull me away? Does it respect my boundaries and future? Is it rooted in kindness and truth? Real love, as I’ve experienced, waits, prays, and builds rather than rushing or pressuring. Choosing God's definition of love doesn’t mean sacrificing joy; it means protecting yourself from counterfeit feelings that can cost much more than you realize. This month, I encourage everyone to pause and reflect on their relationships with these thoughts in mind, seeking a love that truly reflects God’s peace and freedom.
