Motherhood✨

There’s a part of me that genuinely mourns the old me—the confident, thin, carefree me.

Then, God blessed me with my first daughter, and my entire world turned upside down in the most wonderful way. I had no choice but to grow up, gain new perspectives, and even develop a deeper understanding of my own mother.

I grew to cherish what I went through during that pregnancy and was so proud of the woman I’d turned to be. Bettering myself for my daughter. To ensure her childhood was nothing like mine.

With the arrival of baby girl number two, my appreciation for everything else in life has only grown.

I now cherish the long days, the cluttered living room filled with toys that I pick up five times a day, the constant noise, and the days when nothing seems to slow down.

I’ve also grown a newfound appreciation for my body, which was a significant mental shift, considering my past struggles with an eating disorder. The second child helped me realize that I’ll miss the laughter, the messes, the incessant “mommy” questions, the little fingerprints all over, and the nights when I get no sleep.

Because one day, they won’t need me. They’ll have each other, and then they’ll find a partner, get married, and have their own families. I’ll miss the noise in an empty house, the feeling of being needed when they’re living their own lives, the cuddles and kisses, and the questions they ask me during the times when their lives are as hectic as mine feel right now, when I might not hear from them for a week.

I’ll miss not having to worry about them because they’re no longer under my protection, where I can ensure their safety 24/7. I’ll miss them.

My appreciation and purpose for my life now have a whole new meaning. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I’m so blessed to have my girls.

... Read moreMotherhood is a profound journey that reshapes not only our daily routines but also how we see ourselves and the world. From personal experience, I understand how initially mourning the change from your old self—a confident and carefree individual—to becoming a mother can feel overwhelming. It’s a transformation that requires patience, acceptance, and a shift in mindset. Many mothers, like you who cherish both the joyous chaos and the long quiet moments, find that motherhood provides a unique opportunity to grow emotionally and spiritually. For instance, dealing with cluttered living rooms and nonstop questions is a testament to the lively environment children create and a sign of their exploration and learning. One crucial aspect often overlooked is the evolving relationship with your own body after pregnancy. It’s common to have struggled with body image in the past, and yet motherhood can provide a new appreciation for what the body is capable of—carrying life and adapting through growth. That mental shift is a beautiful breakthrough many women experience. The heartfelt realization that your children will one day lead their own lives can be bittersweet. It encourages us to cherish the present, even the sleepless nights and tiny fingerprints that mark our homes. This awareness instills a deeper gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose. Sharing experiences and joining online communities tagged with #motherhood, #girlmomx2, and #embracemotherhood can provide invaluable support and inspiration. It’s comforting to know you’re not alone; mothers everywhere share this transformative path filled with love, learning, and immense personal growth. Ultimately, embracing motherhood means embracing change and finding beauty in imperfection. It helps us become better versions of ourselves—not just for our children’s sake but for our own wellbeing and fulfillment. Through love, patience, and resilience, the journey can be truly rewarding and life-changing.

A stepmom shouldn’t do 90% of the parenting…
I’ve been a stepmom for three years. I love my stepson, but I never agreed to be his full-time mother. My husband has 50/50 custody, yet somehow the parenting magically becomes 100% mine whenever his son is here. Homework? Me. Dinner? Me. Doctor appointments? Me. School calls? Me. Meltdowns?
