... Read moreExperiencing perimenopause can feel like stepping into a wild, untamed phase of life—a 'feral era' as some describe it. For many women, including myself, this stage brought an overwhelming mix of emotions ranging from frustration to liberation. The hormonal changes during perimenopause impact mood, energy, and even self-identity, often leaving us feeling like we're fighting an internal storm. What helped me most was embracing this turbulent period rather than resisting it. I found support by connecting with other Gen X women who shared similar experiences about feeling misunderstood and overlooked. Sharing stories about hot flashes, mood swings, and sleepless nights not only normalized my journey but also created a community of resilience. Incorporating self-care rituals became essential. Simple practices like mindful breathing, gentle exercise, and prioritizing rest helped balance my moods and manage stress. I also started journaling intensely—letting my raw emotions flow onto the pages, which unlocked a sense of empowerment amidst the chaos. Rediscovering my voice was another big part of this transition. Perimenopause pushed me to set stronger boundaries and say no without guilt. It’s okay to be ‘done’ with disrespect or draining situations. This newfound assertiveness allowed me to protect my energy and focus on what truly matters. If you’re navigating perimenopause, remember this time can be about transformation—not just endings. It’s a chance to honor yourself, vibrant and unfiltered, ready to own your feral era with pride and confidence.
