Hey everyone! We've all been there – bought a huge watermelon, loved eating it fresh, but then realized we have so much left. That's exactly why I started experimenting with recipes like this amazing Watermelon Kiwi Refresher! It’s not just a delicious way to use up fruit; it’s also incredibly hydrating and feels like a little treat. Making your own refresher at home is a game-changer. Not only do you know exactly what’s going into your drink, but you can also tailor it perfectly to your taste. For this recipe, we focus on that beautiful, pure pressed watermelon juice, which really highlights the fruit’s natural sweetness. When you chop 1 cup fresh watermelon and crush it, you get this incredibly vibrant base that’s packed with flavor. It’s a bit different than blending, giving you a clearer, more intense juice. Now, let's talk about the kiwi! The crunch and tartness of the kiwi are what truly make this drink special. I love to chop 1 kiwi into small chunks and then crush kiwi in glass separately. This ensures you get those bursts of tangy flavor with every sip. After straining the watermelon juice from pulp, you add the crushed kiwi into glass, creating those lovely green flecks you see in the photos. Don't forget that squeeze of fresh lime juice – it brightens everything up and perfectly balances the sweetness. While the original recipe calls for a splash of Melon Mogu Mogu for an extra flavor kick, don't worry if you don't have it! You can easily substitute it with a splash of sparkling water for some fizz, or even a tiny bit of simple syrup if you like it sweeter. Sometimes, I even add a few mint leaves to the mix for an extra layer of coolness. You can top with ice and splash of melon mogu mogu or your chosen alternative, then pour pressed watermelon juice over it. For those who prefer a super smooth texture, instead of just crushing, you could lightly blend or crush watermelon with a little water before straining. This might yield more juice, but you might miss some of that rustic, 'pressed' feel. Remember, the goal is a refreshing drink! This homemade watermelon kiwi drink is fantastic on its own, but it also makes a wonderful base for a light summer punch or even a fun mocktail for parties. It's seriously one of my go-to easy drink recipes for using up fresh fruit and staying hydrated. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
