Two Master’s Degrees? Yeah, I’m Doing That. 🎓

I

I officially switched into the Dual Master’s Program at Walden University — Clinical Mental Health Counseling + School Counseling 🙌🏽💙

And the best part?

I still get to keep my focus in Marriage, Couples & Family Therapy within my CMHC program. So I’m walking out with two degrees AND still keeping the specialization that’s aligned with my passion. 🙏🏽

This path gives me more flexibility, more career options, and more ways to serve my community — whether it’s in private practice, schools, or supporting families and couples.

Your girl is locked in for two master’s degrees and a powerful future in the counseling field. 🎓

2025/11/23 Edited to

... Read moreDeciding to pursue not one, but two Master's degrees in the counseling field was a big leap, but one I truly believe will shape a powerful future. For anyone out there considering a similar path, or just curious about the vast world of counseling, I wanted to share some insights from my journey – especially why a dual degree might be exactly what you need to achieve your career aspirations. One of the biggest advantages I've found with a dual Master of Science degree, like the one I’m pursuing at Walden University, is the incredible flexibility it offers. Combining Clinical Mental Health Counseling with School Counseling, for instance, doesn't just double your qualifications; it significantly broadens your understanding of human development and mental wellness across different settings. This means more diverse career options post-graduation. Imagine being equipped to work in a private practice, offering therapy to individuals and families, and also having the credentials to support students' mental health and academic success within a school system. It’s about building a robust skill set that serves a wider community. My specific concentration in Marriage, Couple, & Family Counseling within the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is another layer of specialization that excites me. It means I can delve deep into systemic approaches to therapy, understanding how relationships and family dynamics impact individual well-being. This specialized knowledge, coupled with the broader scope of both CMHC and School Counseling, truly prepares you for a holistic approach to client care. Whether it’s helping a couple navigate challenges, guiding a family through transitions, or assisting a teenager facing personal struggles, the blend of these fields ensures I can adapt and provide informed support. For those exploring higher education options, carefully look at programs that allow for such concentrations or dual degree pathways. A university like Walden University, which offers these integrated programs, can be invaluable. It streamlines the educational process, often allowing you to fulfill requirements for both degrees more efficiently than pursuing them separately. This efficiency is crucial when you’re balancing studies with life. Think about your long-term career goals. Do you envision yourself in diverse roles, making an impact in various environments? A dual degree can be a strategic move to future-proof your career. It demonstrates a deep commitment to the field and a versatility that employers highly value. It's not just about earning more degrees; it's about building a comprehensive toolkit to tackle complex mental health challenges from multiple angles. The journey isn't without its demands, of course. Juggling coursework for two programs requires dedication, strong organizational skills, and a clear vision of your future. But the prospect of walking out with enriched knowledge and a wider array of future career goals makes every late-night study session worth it. If you're passionate about serving others and want to maximize your impact, exploring dual Master's programs in counseling could be the transformative step you're looking for.
