A Realistic WIEIAD | 1,560 cals | 88g protein | 40g fiber
It was my first time trying lemon rice and I did not like it alone, but I loved it with the curry!
As y’all can tell, I do not eat meat very often. When I do, it’s frozen chicken (usually the brand bare chicken), a mcdonald’s burger (a yummy, ultra processed “meat” 😂), or lean ground beef! I also like the deli sandwich pepperonis.
Some other sources of protein I enjoy are:
-cottage cheese
-greek yogurt
-legumes (chickpeas, most beans, & lentils)
-protein bars
-protein drinks
-low cal bagels (647 brand or soLA)
-carb balance tortillas
-eggs
-oats
I want to add that I struggle eating enough fiber unless I have a low cal bagel (they are so high in fiber) or carb balance tortillas! It’s something I want to work on getting from other sources other than those bagels (so more fruit & whole wheat items).
Fiber is very important to our gut health, especially digestion. It also is amazing for:
-helping us stay full for longer periods of time (which helps us manage our weight)
-stabilizing blood sugar
-and lowering cholesterol!
Did you know that American’s (95%) do NOT get enough fiber in their diets? This includes adults AND children.

From my personal experience, incorporating a variety of protein sources such as lean meats like frozen chicken, lean ground beef, and plant-based options like legumes and Greek yogurt, helps keep meals satisfying and nutritious. One surprising addition for me was low-calorie bagels and carb balance tortillas — they not only provide carbs but are also unexpectedly high in fiber, which has helped improve my digestion and feeling of fullness throughout the day.
Fiber intake is especially important. Many Americans, including myself, struggle to consume enough daily fiber, yet it offers remarkable benefits, such as stabilizing blood sugar and lowering cholesterol. Instead of relying solely on packaged items like low-calorie bagels, I’ve been working on adding more natural fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole wheat products. This shift not only enhances gut health but also supports sustainable weight loss by preventing hunger spikes.
I also learned that pairing certain flavors and foods can make meals more enjoyable. For instance, lemon rice was not my favorite alone, but combined with lentil curry, it became delicious and nourishing. Incorporating a variety of tastes and textures into your meal plan can keep eating exciting and prevent meal fatigue.
Lastly, tracking calorie intake while prioritizing protein and fiber can create a sensible calorie deficit crucial for weight loss without sacrificing energy or muscle mass. Using protein bars or drinks strategically throughout the day has helped me meet my protein goals, especially on busy days. Overall, adopting a meal plan with around 1,560 calories, 88 grams of protein, and 40 grams of fiber has been a practical and enjoyable approach to achieving my health goals.
