first spring run: slow runner edition🏃🏻‍♀️🌱🌸

The weather was finally warm enough for an outdoor run this week! It was kind of rough honestly but I wanted to share this in case it motivates any other slow runners out there.

I know I sometimes feel bad when I see people’s “run we me” posts and they’re running 7 or 8 minute miles and I can barely run an 11 or 12 minute lol so if that’s you too, you’re not alone! Get out there and get after it 🤍🤍

... Read moreSpring is the perfect time to kickstart your running routine, especially for those who classify themselves as slow runners. Many individuals experience feelings of inadequacy when comparing their running speed with others. However, embracing your pace and acknowledging progress is key to enjoying the journey. Training for a 5K can feel daunting, but with the right approach, it can be an exhilarating experience. Start with mindfulness and self-compassion. It's essential to recognize that everyone's running journey is unique. Incorporating dynamic stretching as part of your routine can significantly enhance performance. As your body adjusts, pay attention to your mileage and listen to your body’s signals, so you're not overexerting yourself. Setting smaller, tangible goals can also provide motivation—whether it's completing a specific distance or simply enjoying the run itself. Remember to celebrate small victories! For example, completing the first mile is a win for many, and progressively building on that accomplishment can make a difference in your mindset. If fatigue sets in or you encounter a side ache, alternating between walking and running allows you to push through while giving your body the needed recovery. Additionally, connecting with fellow runners can provide a supportive community. Sharing experiences and challenges can foster motivation, making the journey feel less solitary. Look for local running groups or social media hashtags like #slowrunner and #runningmotivation to inspire one another. In summary, whether your pace is fast or slow, the important thing is that you're out there running. Stay committed, encourage each other, and relish the journey of each step. Happy running!

Slow runners are still runners!
I was scared for a while to start running bc of thoughts of “what if I have to walk during my run” or “I’m not a real runner if I’m slow” and many others. During the beginning of this journey I’ve found that it DOESNT matter. If you run then you’re a runner! Even if you have to walk every so often
