🌸 Signs of Narcissistic Abuse + When It’s Time to Leave 💔

✨ A ChakraBae SelfCare guide to reclaiming your power

At first, they made you feel seen.

Then they made you feel small.

Now you’re stuck between “maybe I’m overreacting” and “why do I feel so broken?”

Let me say this clearly:

If you’re constantly confused, anxious, and shrinking — that’s not love.

That’s emotional abuse disguised as care.

🚩 Signs of Narcissistic Abuse:

• Constant gaslighting + flipped blame

• Conditional love based on control

• Apologies that only serve them

• “You’re too sensitive” when you express hurt

• Walking on eggshells has become your default

• You’re exhausted, confused, and questioning your reality

🕊️ When It’s Time to Leave:

• When your body is screaming “this isn’t safe”

• When peace costs your silence

• When self-love can’t grow in that environment

• When leaving feels like the only way to return to yourself

You are not crazy.

You are not “too much.”

You are waking up.

And that is sacred.

... Read moreIt took me a long time to admit what I was going through was narcissistic abuse. The signs were so subtle at first, masked by intense 'love bombing' and promises. I constantly felt like I was losing my mind, always confused and questioning my own reality. That's the insidious nature of gaslighting – it makes you doubt your memories, your feelings, and ultimately, yourself. I remember countless times being told, 'You're too sensitive,' or 'That never happened,' when I tried to express legitimate hurt or concern. It slowly eroded my self-trust until I didn't know up from down. Another major red flag for me was the conditional love. It felt like I constantly had to perform or conform to their expectations to receive affection or approval. If I didn't, I was met with silent treatment, criticism, or emotional withdrawal. This created a constant feeling of walking on eggshells, where every word and action was carefully calculated to avoid upsetting them. It’s absolutely exhausting to live that way, always anticipating the next emotional blow or trying to appease someone who is perpetually dissatisfied. I was always feeling drained, wondering where the person I once was had gone. The graphic with the meditating silhouette really resonated with me, reminding me that I had lost my inner peace. Recognizing these signs of narcissistic abuse was the first, incredibly difficult step. But then comes the even harder realization: when is it truly time to leave? For me, it wasn’t one big event, but a slow accumulation of moments where my body screamed, 'This isn't safe.' It was realizing that peace truly cost my silence, and my self-love couldn't possibly grow in that environment. The idea of 'self-abandonment' if I stayed became too painful to bear. Embarking on the journey of healing from narcissistic abuse isn't easy, but it’s the most empowering thing I’ve ever done. The initial phase can feel overwhelming – grief, anger, confusion, and even moments of doubt. But then, slowly, you start to reclaim pieces of yourself. You begin to trust your instincts again, to feel your emotions without judgment, and to set boundaries without guilt. It's about creating distance, both physically and emotionally, so that your spirit can finally breathe and mend. This process truly feels like returning to yourself, shedding the layers of trauma and rediscovering your inherent worth. If you're seeing these signs and contemplating leaving, know that a brighter, more peaceful future awaits. Your healing requires distance from what harms you.
