Backlog is getting out of control….
All the games I love need at least 500 hours just to be relevant lol! 2k hours in throne and liberty and I’m not even competitive atm! I took some time off too!
Totally get this feeling! My gaming backlog is also spiraling out of control, and it feels like a never-ending battle. You start with good intentions when buying a new game, thinking you'll dedicate all your time to it, but then another sale hits, a new MMORPG drops, or an exciting early access title pops up, and suddenly you've got a dozen games waiting in the wings. It’s especially true for MMORPGs and ARPGs. These aren't games you just pick up for an hour or two; they demand hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to truly get into. You mentioned Throne and Liberty – 2,000 hours is a serious commitment! And then you have titles like the upcoming Dune Awakening or Path of Exile 2, which many of us probably bought during early access or pre-ordered, hoping to dive in immediately. But life happens, and suddenly those eagerly anticipated games are just sitting there, glaring at you from your library. I often find myself in a dilemma: do I continue grinding in my current MMORPG, where I’ve already invested so much time, or do I jump into a new experience? The FOMO (fear of missing out) is real, especially when friends are talking about the latest releases. It’s hard to resist the allure of a fresh world, new combat mechanics, and the excitement of discovery. But then I remember the sheer amount of time I'll need to catch up, let alone become competitive, and it can be a bit overwhelming. My strategy lately has been to try and prioritize. I ask myself: which game truly sparks my interest right now? Is it the one that offers a fresh narrative, or the one where I can just chill and grind? Sometimes, I even just accept that not every game I buy will get played immediately, and that's okay. The Game On mentality can be a double-edged sword – it’s great to be enthusiastic, but it can also lead to an unmanageable list. What about you all? How do you tackle your gaming backlogs? Do you have a strict 'one game at a time' rule, or are you like me, constantly downloading new titles and hoping to get to them someday? Let's share our strategies for conquering these digital mountains of entertainment!
