❗️ TW: Domestic Violence 🚫
This was back 2020-2023. Posting it to spread awareness, also because I’m so proud myself for removing myself from that situation. I was a victim of every abuse you can think of. Mentally, emotionally, verbally, and physically. But I survived, and I am now free. If you’re currently in a situation like this, LEAVE before it’s too late. Follow me & let’s connect ❤️🩹 I’m all ears!
It started with the name calling, grabbing my arm a little too rough, lying to my face, disrespecting me, and keep in mind while all of this was happening I was falling deeply in love. Even if there was a lot of red flags, I would always give him the benefit of the doubt and kept making excuses for him as if there was no enough mistakes and pain he caused me already. One moment we’re happy, and next thing you know we’ll get into an argument and he’d break my stuff, strangle me, push me against the wall, bang me on the floor then afterwards he’d cry and tells me that he’s sorry, that he loves me, that it’ll never happen again. He’d make an effort every after argument we had, he’d always try to bribe me and I’d always buy it. I couldn’t leave him because I sincerely loved him. I loved him enough to give him unlimited chances, I detached myself from my real friends that he disliked, and the worst part is I fought my family for him.
Domestic violence is a complex issue that affects millions worldwide, yet it often goes unreported and unnoticed. Survivors of domestic abuse experience an array of challenges, both psychological and emotional, which can linger long after the relationship ends. Support systems, such as local shelters, counseling services, and online communities, play a crucial role in helping individuals escape abusive situations and rebuild their lives. Research indicates that many victims struggle to leave due to emotional attachments, fear, and financial dependencies, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and advocacy. Effective prevention strategies involve education about the signs of abusive relationships, as well as community-based programs promoting healthy relationships and respect. Empowering individuals through workshops and support groups can lead to a cultural shift that prioritizes respect and equality in partnerships. It is essential to remind victims that they are not alone, and there are resources available for help. National hotlines and local organizations exist to provide guidance and support. Awareness campaigns, like #domesticviolenceawareness, aim to shine a light on the issue, giving survivors the voice they deserve and encouraging them to share their stories. Together, we can create a safer, more supportive environment for those in need.
